DURANGO, Colo. — Two men became trapped by an avalanche when sliding down a hill and spent nearly seven hours under 6 feet of snow before they could be rescued, authorities said.
Brett Woods, 24, and Keith Kathcart, 19, were dug out late Sunday, after passing skiers heard their cries for help and saw a glove in the snow near the Chapman Hill ski area. Both men were hospitalized but were in good condition Monday, recovering from hypothermia and muscle injuries.
