WASHINGTON — Supreme Court Justice William J. Brennan, who underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder two weeks ago, returned to work today.
Brennan, 82, was hospitalized Dec. 8 suffering from chills and fever. His condition initially was diagnosed as pneumonia, but doctors later determined he had a non-malignant gallbladder disease. “He looks great,” a court employee who declined to be identified said of the justice. “He’s back on the job and feeling fine.”
