The World : U.S. Accused of Libya Plot

Iran and Syria accused the United States of preparing to attack Libya on the pretext that it has a chemical weapons plant and pledged their support for Tripoli. “Once again Washington and some of its allies launch a big media campaign to justify a new aggression against Libya,” a government statement said in Damascus. Tehran Radio broadcast a similar government statement. Syria charged that the United States has the world’s largest stockpile of chemical weapons. Arab League representatives plan to meet in Tunis today to discuss alleged U.S. threats to attack the factory at Rabta near Tripoli, according to Tunis Radio, monitored in London.
