A Costa Mesa man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of felony hit-and-run driving after being follow home by a person who reportedly saw him leaving the scene of a minor accident, police said.
Alfonso Cruz, 30, was jailed in lieu of $10,000 bail.
Police said Cruz ran a red light at the intersection of Bay Street and the southbound 55 Freeway in Costa Mesa, hit a car and left the scene without stopping. A witness followed Cruz to the 400 block of Hamilton Street and called police.
The driver of the other car, John D. Shaw, 45, of Fairfax, and his passenger, Alex Shaw, 15, received minor cuts and injuries. They were treated at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian and released.
