An unidentified man in his mid-20s was killed Sunday in Valencia when the car he was driving struck a guardrail, flipped and ejected him, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Witnesses said the car was northbound on the Golden State Freeway just south of Magic Mountain Parkway and was weaving across all lanes of the freeway when his car struck the guardrail at about 1:15 p.m., CHP Officer Bob Weaver said.
The man, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, Weaver added.
Investigators said they smelled alcohol on the man’s breath, Weaver said.
A passenger, Jorge Hernandez, 23, of Los Angeles, suffered minor injuries. Hernandez was wearing a seat belt, Weaver said.
