National Debt
Beyond the obvious financial burden of our enormous national debt lies the tragic realization that our society has very little to show for the budget deficits of the past eight years. Some of the things that we don’t have to show are expanded educational opportunities, needed health-care insurance for millions of our citizens and a cleaner environment. It’s painful to admit that all we really have to show for this immense expenditure of funds is a glut of military weapons that we dare never use.
Our massive national debt is a Reagan legacy that will be very easy to remember, because every year we will have as our reminder a horrendous interest payment.
