SportScope : Loyola Women Cagers Clash With George Washington on Wednesday

The Loyola Marymount women’s basketball team (5-3) will play host to George Washington of Washington, D.C., at 5 p.m. Wednesday and Murray State of Kentucky on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
For Loyola, guard Lynn Flanagan and center Trish Gibson are tied for the team scoring lead at 11.9 points a game. Guard Kristen Buich leads in assists with 8.9 a game and ranks in the national top 10 in steals.
Cal State Dominguez Hills (2-6) will be at home against Humboldt State at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday. Dominguez Hills sophomore guard Devon Akita is among the leaders of the California Collegiate Athletic Assn. in assists, free throw percentage, steals and blocked shots.
Spots are available in the Redondo Beach Super Bowl Sunday 10-K Run Jan. 22. The race begins at 8 a.m. For more information call 540-5001.
South Bay schools won 17 of the top 24 individual places in the Amateur Athletic Foundation 3-K Youth Run at the Los Angeles Coliseum. Eight-hundred competitors ages 11-15 took part. South Bay runners swept the top three individual spots in 11-year-old boys and girls categories.
The Harbor College men’s basketball team is at Fullerton College tonight at 7:30. The Seahawks (7-4) open Southern California Athletic Conference play Jan. 4 against Compton College.
