A Great Event: Gretzky Is a Dad

Janet Jones, wife of the Kings’ Wayne Gretzky, gave birth Monday to the couple’s first child, a girl, at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

The baby, named Paulina, was born at 11:54 a.m. She was 21 inches long and weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces at birth, said Cedars Sinai spokesman Ron Wise.

“The baby is very healthy,” said Wise, who added that both of her parents were also doing fine and that Gretzky, known as the Great One, was present at the birth.
