Elderly Man, Wife Are Found Dead in N. Hollywood

An elderly couple was found dead in their North Hollywood apartment Sunday, but police have not determined the cause of their death.
The bodies of Cathy Kingery, 63, and Bill Kingery, 68, were discovered Sunday night in the 10900 block of Hesby Street by their landlord, John Basmajian. Basmajian said he entered the couple’s apartment after he had not seen them for a few days, and there was no answer at their telephone.
When he entered the Kingerys apartment, said he found Cathy Kingery lying dead on the living room floor and Bill Kingery dead in the bedroom.
Basmajian said Cathy Kingery suffered from terminal cancer.
“We’re not sure if it was natural,” Los Angeles Police Lt. Stuart Maislin said. “Or if it was a Romeo and Juliet type of thing.”
Police were awaiting a determination about the cause of death from the county coroner’s office.
