The body of an unidentified woman was found in a dry riverbed near Acton, authorities said Sunday.
The body was found about 2 p.m. Saturday by a man and his son as they drove their four-wheel drive vehicle in the bed of the Santa Clara River near Crown Valley and Soledad Canyon roads, said Deputy Kathryn Nielsen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The boy told his father that he saw a woman sleeping, Nielsen said, but when the man investigated he found no signs of life and called sheriff’s deputies to the scene.
Nielsen said the woman’s death will be investigated as a homicide, although the cause of death was unknown. Homicide investigators had not identified the body Sunday.
