Fire Destroys Southland Homes
On the night of Dec. 7 my husband and I were relaxing in our apartment watching television. We heard a commotion outside and took a peek through the window. Much to our astonishment, there were several people standing outside by the National Guard Armory. We went to the bedroom window and saw a tremendous amount of smoke. We had never before seen a fire like that in our lives. By the size of it, we thought for sure we would be up all night, waiting for the danger to pass. With the Santa Ana winds blowing, we were scared to death our building would be next to ignite. However, the Los Angeles Fire Department had the massive fire contained within an hour.
My husband and I would just like to thank the L.A. Fire Department for doing a truly wonderful job.
