Actor James Stewart usually turns up many times during the holidays in one of his most popular films, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
But this season, Stewart has a new assignment: hosting the seventh annual “Christmas in Washington” special, to be seen Wednesday (10-11 p.m.) on NBC. A benefit for the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in Washington, the holiday program will feature seasonal music performed by Kathleen Battle, Shirley Jones, Gary Morris, Vikki Carr, the Naval Academy Glee Club and the Army Herald Trumpets.
As for “It’s a Wonderful Life,” the 1946 film has had several showings already and will air again Sunday at 6 p.m. and Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. on the Disney Channel, then Saturday (Christmas Eve) at 11:30 a.m. on Channel 24 (San Bernardino) and the Z Channel, at 5 p.m. on TBS, at 6 p.m. on American Movie Classics and at 11:30 p.m. on Channel 7.
