LONGMONT, Colo. — MiniScribe Corp., a computer disk company, has announced that it will lay off about 2,000 people over the next four to five weeks.
Q. T. Wiles, chairman and chief executive officer, said Thursday that about 240 employees will be laid off in the firm’s Longmont plant and that the others will be in facilities in Singapore and Hong Kong.
He said natural attrition is expected to account for part of the overall reduction over the five-week period.
Wiles said the reduction is necessary because of lagging sales and overproduction.
