A memorial service has been scheduled for Friday to honor three Los Angeles police officers killed Monday when their two patrol cars collided on a downtown street.
The service for Officers Derrick C. Connor, Manuel Gutierrez Jr., and David Hofmeyer will be held at 10 a.m. at the Scottish Rites Temple, 4357 Wilshire Blvd.
Funeral arrangements will be announced this week, police officials said.
The officers died responding to a call for assistance from detectives who had stopped four men in a stolen car. The accident occurred when Gutierrez drove his squad car the wrong way on a one-way street, colliding with another cruiser driven by Hofmeyer. A fourth officer, Venson Drake, survived the crash with cuts and bruises.
