Don Henley, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Graham Nash were among about 200 friends of singer Roy Orbison who gathered at the Wiltern Theatre on Tuesday night to honor the memory of the seminal rock performer who died Dec. 6 of a heart attack. Orbison’s widow, Barbara, made an emotional speech recollecting Orbison’s career, which was highlighted by such rock classics as “Oh, Pretty Woman” and “Blue Bayou.” Bonnie Raitt, Dave Edmunds, Johnny Rivers and the Stray Cats performed for the gathering, though an anticipated appearance of the remaining Traveling Wilburys--the superstar group featuring Orbison, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Petty and Lynne--did not materialize. According to publicist Sarah McMullen, Harrison was in town but came down with the flu. McMullen said Wednesday that a burial service for Orbison is planned for the end of this week in Los Angeles.
