Administrative charges against Chubb Corp. over the sale of so-called drought insurance have been dropped in Illinois after the company agreed to pay a $50,000 fine and the $100,000 cost of a state investigation, officials have reported. State Insurance Director John Washburn announced the action four days after a federal judge in Cincinnati approved a $48-million drought insurance settlement for some 8,800 farmers in 10 states.
