Hope is springing eternal this holiday season--Bob Hope, that is. The veteran funny man’s NBC special this year is quite sporty in theme and personality, though. Featured on the show, airing Saturday, are appearances by Dodger hero-pitcher (and World Series MVP) Orel Hershiser, Florence Griffith Joyner, multiple-medal winner (and running fashion statement) of the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, and the All-American college football team. Co-starring with the 84-year-old Hope is country singer Dolly Parton, and “Miami Vice” star Don Johnson also appears in the show.
