Bicoastal director-educator Anne Bogart was named Tuesday as the new artistic director of Providence, R.I.’s celebrated Trinity Repertory Company, replacing Adrian Hall, who founded the company 25 years ago. Called “extremely ensemble-minded and open to anything,” Bogart currently teaches and directs at both Harvard University and the UC San Diego. Bogart’s term of office as Trinity Rep’s artistic director is termed “open-ended,” and it was unclear Tuesday what sort of new productions she had in mind for her new theatrical home. Hall is increasing his commitment to film--co-writing and directing the upcoming film “Ethan Fromme”--and will be continuing his work at the Dallas Theater Center in Texas.
