A Simi Valley man died after clutching his chest as his car smashed into a power pole and another car in Northridge on Monday, Los Angeles police said.
Investigators believe that the 47-year-old man, pronounced dead at the scene of the 3:30 p.m. accident in the 8500 block of Tampa Avenue, may have died of a heart attack, Officer Bill Wilkins said.
Witnesses told police that the man clutched his chest as his car accelerated off Tampa, hit the pole, then went back onto the street, hitting the car, Wilkins said.
There were no other injuries, police said. An autopsy is scheduled.
