Local News in Brief : Thousand Oaks Man Hit, Killed by Car

A 74-year-old man was killed in Woodland Hills on Monday when he was hit by a car driven by a 75-year-old woman, police said.

Sidney Atkins of Thousand Oaks was getting out of his car near Ventura Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue about 5:40 p.m. when he was hit by a car driven by Edith Sabio of Pacoima, said Los Angeles Police Officer Lorne Starks.

Atkins died at the scene, Starks said.

Sabio was arrested a few minutes later as she sat in her car at a fast-food restaurant about half a mile away, Starks said. Sabio, who seemed disoriented when taken into custody, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run driving, Starks said.
