A woman was killed after her car went over an embankment on California 67 and burst into flames, the Sheriff’s Department reported Monday.
The occupant reportedly lost control of the vehicle while driving south about 7:15 p.m. Sunday and went off a bluff near Mina de Oro Road, Deputy Leah Mitchell said.
A deputy coroner said Monday that the victim was still unidentified. The accident ignited a brush fire that closed the highway for three hours, Mitchell said. Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the cause of the crash.
