Drexler Leads Trail Blazer Win With 41

PORTLAND, Ore. — Clyde Drexler scored 9 of his season-high 41 points in overtime to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 128-123 victory over the San Antonio Spurs Sunday.
Drexler’s 3-point play and Terry Porter’s foul shot at 3:58 of overtime were the first points of extra period and broke a 110-110 deadlock.
Darwin Cook hit a jumper with 2 minutes left in overtime to bring San Antonio within 118-116.
Drexler then scored 4 points to keep Portland ahead for good.
Frank Brickowski, who led the Spurs with 25 points, missed 2 foul shots with 3 seconds in regulation and Portland’s Terry Porter missed a 20-footer with a second to play to force overtime.
Jerome Kersey’s 3-pointer with 3:09 left in regulation gave Portland a 110-102 lead.
But the Spurs scored the next 8 points, tying the game on rookie Willie Anderson’s 2 foul shots with 32 seconds left.
Johnny Dawkins had 22 for the Spurs, while Kevin Duckworth and Porter had 24 apiece for Portland.
