Auburn Women Race Away From USC in Winning Lady Wave Title, 83-63

Despite Cherie Nelson’s 26 points, No. 17 ranked USC could not keep pace with No. 4 Auburn, which won the Lady Wave Classic Sunday at Pepperdine with an 83-63 win over the Trojans.
Auburn (4-0) took a 7-1 lead before USC came back at 12:49 to tie the score, 11-11, on a basket by Karon Howell, who scored 14 points in the game, including 3 3-pointers.
The Trojans (3-3) trailed by 11 points at halftime, but Auburn’s C.J. Jones scored 15 of her 23 points in the second half to insure the victory.
In the consolation game, Pepperdine lost to DePaul, 74-73.
