Local News in Brief : Woman Dies After Car Careens Off On-Ramp

An 87-year-old San Fernando woman was killed when the car she was driving careened off a freeway ramp and crashed into a light pole, Los Angeles police said.
The accident occurred about 4 p.m. Saturday as the victim, Esther Wrolstad, was making a right turn onto the Osborne Street on-ramp of the Foothill Freeway in Pacoima, police said. Paramedics took Wrolstad to Holy Cross Medical Center, where she died soon after 5 p.m.
