A 30-year-old San Diego man was severely injured by at least one knife-wielding assailant Sunday in a dispute following a traffic accident, police said.
Manuel Ramos was in critical condition Sunday at UC San Diego Medical Center.
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m., police said, after Ramos’ car collided with another vehicle in Logan Heights on the Boston Avenue on-ramp to southbound Interstate 5. A group of up to five men from the other vehicle attacked Ramos, police said. It was unclear how many carried knives.
A companion managed to gain control of Ramos’ car and drive him to a nearby fast-food restaurant, where police and an ambulance were summoned.
San Diego police were investigating.
