ATLANTIC CITY, N. J. — A massive fire engulfed historic Steeplechase Amusement Park Pier on Saturday, and 125 firefighters formed a semi-circular line to protect a casino and the resort’s famous Boardwalk.
Smoke from the pier blew into the Resorts International Hotel and Casino, but no one was injured, Deputy Fire Chief Lincoln Harold said. The pier, once known for its amusements and rides, was closed last summer.
