Readers Know Sure Thing When They See One

In his Dec. 1 column, Grahame L. Jones laments the fact that an overabundance of California horse racing has put tracks in jeopardy of becoming more a haven for gamblers instead of a retreat for the sports purist.
Mr. Jones is naive, blind or both. How many people does he think would flock to Santa Anita if the parimutuel windows were shut tight? Seven?
It’s certainly not Santa Anita’s clam chowder that brings me back, week in and week out.
