A woman identified by the Sheriff’s Department as Betty Louise Rodriguez, 43, of Huntington Beach led authorities on a high-speed chase Thursday that started in Midway City and ended on Bristol Street and MacArthur Boulevard in Santa Ana.
Lt. Robert Rivas of the Sheriff’s Department said Rodriguez was booked on charges of reckless driving, assault and evading arrest. He noted that the suspect had been drinking.
Rivas said the chase began when a sheriff’s deputy on patrol in Midway City noticed Rodriguez acting suspiciously while she was in a parked car, apparently waiting for a man to emerge from a house.
Rivas said Rodriguez grew impatient and began shouting obscenities while the deputy was checking her driver’s license.
The pursuit lasted 23 minutes and involved vehicles from the police departments of Garden Grove, Westminster, Santa Ana and the Sheriff’s Department.
