Florida relaxed a 19-month ban on the sale and harvest of redfish to allow sports anglers to keep one fish a day from state waters. Sale and commercial fishing of redfish are still banned. Gov. Bob Martinez and the Cabinet voted on new rules following a packed three-hour hearing at which ardent opponents wore green hats and supporters wore red hats. Alabama, Louisiana, South Carolina and Texas also have restrictions on redfish harvests, and federal waters in the Gulf of Mexico are closed to redfish harvesting.
