Local News in Brief : 3 Former U.S. Drug Agents Indicted
- Share via
Three former Drug Enforcement Administration agents were indicted by a federal grand jury Wednesday on charges that they conspired to evade taxes by laundering more than $600,000 through foreign banks.
Darnell Garcia, 41, of Rancho Palos Verdes; Wayne Countryman, 45, of Walnut, and John Jackson, 39, of Claremont, were named earlier in criminal complaints.
Investigators are looking into allegations that the Los Angeles-based agents were involved in drug trafficking, as well as money laundering, and may have provided information to drug dealers.
Countryman and Jackson were arrested Nov. 22 at their homes. Countryman was released on $120,000 bail, while Jackson was denied bail and detained. Garcia is a fugitive.
