Currey Resigns as Football Coach at Cincinnati
University of Cincinnati football Coach Dave Currey, under fire after 5 losing seasons and a suspension by the National Collegiate Athletic Assn., has resigned.
He will remain in his position as associate athletic director until Jan. 3 to help with the transition for the new staff, university officials said.
Currey, 45, had a record of 19-36. The Bearcats’ record this year was 3-8.
Currey came to Cincinnati in 1983 from Cal State Long Beach, where he compiled a 40-36 record in 7 seasons. He also was offensive coordinator and recruiting director at Stanford for 7 years.
