Eastern Bias in the Media
The Times carried on the Op-Ed Page four pieces, three of which concerned Israel and the Middle East. Several other items concerning the same area appeared throughout the issue (Nov. 18).
Affairs of Israel and the Middle East may intensely concern 10% of the population; another 10% may be casually interested. The rest of the population cares little or not at all, nor do they believe Israel to be of any value to the U.S.
However, after reading the segment on bias in the media and the origin of the news, New York City, one readily understands why our news is like it is. One reading of the New York Times locks the reader into one, and only one viewpoint. New York is not the United States. Paris is not France.
