The sale of the unit--the largest U.S. maker of residential water meters and a major supplier of industrial meters and valves--is part of the El Segundo-based company’s plan to focus on aerospace, automotive, electronics, graphics and industrial automation. The unit employs about 3,400 workers worldwide and reported annual sales of about $376 million. The buyer is BTR Dunlop, which makes Dunlop and Puma sports equipment and is involved in the construction, energy and transportation industries.
