A drive-by shooting late Sunday in Alpine critically wounded a man, a Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
Sheriff’s deputies arrived in the 1600 block of Tavern Road at 6:55 p.m. and found Jesus Manuel Valdez, 26, lying with a gunshot wound in his neck, said Deputy Al Bates. The man’s brother said Valdez was struck by a bullet from a passing car, Bates said.
Valdez was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition Monday. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is continuing, Bates said.
