Martel Black, a former Utah fullback, who was supposed to have been married Saturday, was instead sent to Salt Lake City Jail for violating the trust of the court on a drug charge.
Black, who on Oct. 18 pleaded guilty to selling cocaine and was facing a minimum 5-year prison term, had been confined to a halfway house. But last Wednesday, U.S. District Judge David K. Winder granted Black permission to leave the halfway house for the weekend to be married.
After hearing that a Nov. 16 urinalysis showed traces of marijuana, Winder rescinded Black’s release and ordered him transferred to jail.
