Iran Boosts Security Along Turkish Border

ANKARA, Turkey — Iran is boosting security along its rugged border with Turkey, a major drug-trafficking route to Europe and an entry point to Turkey for autonomy-seeking Kurdish rebels, diplomatic officials said Friday.
Iran has opened two new control posts, bringing to 22 the number along the 220-mile frontier. Diplomatic officials in Turkey said rebels of the banned Kurdish Workers Party, seeking autonomy for Turkey’s estimated 8 million Kurds, are still coming over from bases in Iran.
