Esperanza 44, La Habra 18--Esperanza proved why it might be a contender for the Empire League girls’ basketball title with a convincing nonleague victory at home.
“Defense was the key tonight, “ Esperanza Coach Marc Hill said. “We tried to put a lot of pressure on the ball and it seemed to work well.”
The Aztecs, who should battle Katella for the league title, were led by junior Jennifer Harney with a game-high 20 points and 5 rebounds.
