Accused killer Dorothea Montalvo Puente, whose boardinghouse yard concealed seven bodies in shallow graves, publicly signed papers permitting her to stay away from some courtroom sessions. Apparently reluctant to appear in courtrooms jammed with members of the news media, Puente, 59, signed papers stating she was not required to attend court hearings where witnesses would not be testifying against her.
