A Santa Monica policeman and his wife have been arrested on suspicion of possession of cocaine for sale.
Scott Douglas Heming, 30, a seven-year veteran of the department, was arrested by sheriff’s deputies at Santa Monica police headquarters Wednesday as he finished his early morning shift, a police spokesman said. His wife, Lisa, 31, was arrested at the couple’s Canoga Park home.
Santa Monica Police Sgt. John Miehle said Heming had been under investigation since July when an informant told police that a patrol officer was involved in drug activity. No other police officers are under investigation in the case, Miehle said.
Heming has been placed on paid administrative leave although his salary could be withdrawn later, Miehle said.
