‘Agenda for Bush’
Carter and Ford, in their courtesy call to Bush, suggested among other items a cut in Social Security pay to defray our huge deficit. It never occurs to our lawmakers that the lavish pensions bestowed upon former Presidents, retired and defeated members of Congress, etc. could also deserve a cut.
The regal way in which the taxpayers treat these selected few is not only outrageous but very very costly, and deserves Sen. William Proxmire’s (D-Wis.) Golden Fleece Award.
