Soviet Journalist Defects to Turkey

ANKARA, Turkey — A Soviet journalist has defected to Turkey, and the Foreign Ministry said Friday that she was likely to be granted political asylum.
The woman, Mihircan Vezirova, defected in Istanbul on Thursday while visiting Turkey with a Soviet tour group. Local newspapers said she was of Turkish origin.
