Tandon Corp., hurt by a slowdown in sales of its personal computers in Europe, posted a $12-million loss from continuing operations in the third quarter, contrasted with a $1.3-million profit a year earlier. The Moorpark, Calif. company’s sales in the quarter fell 25% from year-earlier levels, to $57.6 million. Tandon said it also was hurt by industrywide shortages of chips used in its computers.
