Crescenta Valley 28, Hoover 27--Hyok Chang completed 9 of 15 for 174 yards and 4 touchdowns as Crescenta Valley (3-6, 2-2) kept its playoff hopes alive at Glendale High.
Hoover running back Erik Messal rushed 48 yards for a touchdown and threw a 64-yard scoring pass to halfback Chad Rinn for a 14-7 first-quarter lead.
Chang’s passing put the Falcons ahead, 28-21, in the fourth quarter but Hoover receiver Mike Rotundi caught an 11-yard scoring pass with 33 seconds remaining to pull the Tornadoes (1-7-1, 0-4) within a point. Quarterback Steve Solano’s conversion attempt for the victory fell incomplete.
