Global AIDS Cases Rise by 4,000, Health Group Says

GENEVA — Global cases of AIDS rose by 4,296, or 3.6%, in October to a total of 124,114, the World Health Organization reported Friday.
The United States accounted for most of the increase with cases rising by 3,276 to 76,670 as of Oct. 31, or 62% of the world total. WHO officials pointed out that many heavily infected countries in Africa and Latin America are lagging in diagnosing and reporting acquired immune deficiency syndrome.
