Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Bird Flap Ends When Rooster Is Relocated
- Share via
The case of the bothersome bird came home to roost Friday in Superior Court.
Jose Sanchez certified to the court that he has indeed found a new home for his pet rooster, in compliance with a court order.
A Santa Ana ordinance prohibits chickens in residential neighborhoods, and some of Sanchez’s west Santa Ana neighbors had complained that the 8-year-old pet, named Travis, was too noisy.
Sanchez, 26, told the court that an acquaintance of his is caring for the rooster in Garden Grove, where there is no ban on the birds.
Hearing that, Judge Gary P. Ryan then threw out a possible 30-day jail sentence against Sanchez for keeping the rooster and quashed an arrest warrant served after the pet owner failed to appear at an earlier court hearing.
