John Laing Homes bought 54 acres in Moreno Valley and will build 250 homes on the land.
The acreage is part of the 4,000-acre Moreno Valley Ranch under development by Warmington Co. of Costa Mesa.
Laing, of Laguna Hills, is the U.S. subsidiary of a British company that has built mostly inexpensive houses in the Inland Empire.
Laing said the price tags for houses on its Moreno Valley land would range between $136,000 and $173,000.
