The Golden State Athletic Conference, in an executive meeting today, will consider taking action against Cal Lutheran for terminating its membership to join a Division III conference.
Ben Norton, acting GSAC president, said that in a Sept. 7 meeting the conference adopted a rule that terminates membership of any school that joins another conference. The CLU Board of Regents voted Saturday to join the Division III Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
According to GSAC rules, a school must notify the conference that it intends to terminate membership a year in advance. Norton said that the committee, composed of athletic directors from the conference’s 8 schools, will clarify the policy in the meeting at Azusa Pacific.
Cal Lutheran is a member of the National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics and is a charter member of the GSAC.
