The U.S., 2-0 in the round-robin tournament, was led by Steve Timmons, who had 6 spikes, and Bob Ctvrtlik and Karch Kiraly, who each had 4.
In the title match of a women’s 4-nation tournament at Hong Kong, the Soviet Union beat Peru, 15-10, 11-15, 15-9, 15-13.
