‘Rejecting Experts’
Cynically trumping up our laziness, timidity, brutishness, and love of fourth-rate historical pageantry, Novak with so much pious gravity (and not so much as a wink), urges that we Americans imagine that we are electing not a mere President, but a king!
Novak cannot be expected to appreciate traditional American misgivings about that bad old business of kings. Many of our ancestors came, at great risk, to the New World to escape Europe’s time-honored and commonplace tyrannies of kings, czars, and Popes.
