Saddleback Shuts Out Riverside
Saddleback College shut down Riverside, 24-0, in a Mission Conference game Saturday at Riverside.
The Gauchos (6-1, 5-1 conference) limited Riverside to a conference record low of 33 yards passing. Riverside held the previous record, holding San Diego City to 36 yards passing in 1984.
In all, Riverside had just 152 yards of offense Saturday.
Saddleback had 368 yards of offense. Running backs John Burns, who had 86 yards on 20 carries, and Aly Diaz, who gained 55 on 14, led the Gauchos on the ground.
Burns scored on runs of 4 yards and 1 yard. Diaz scored on a 3-yard run. J.B. Hollis had a 20-yard field goal for Saddleback.
Saddleback quarterback Scott Stark completed 10 of 17 passes for 138 yards, and Scott Miller caught 6 passes for 92 yards.
